THE TECHNOLOGY
WATERPROOF AND BREATHABLE | DURABLE OUTDOOR TECHNOLOGY
All turnouts and rain sheets feature a hydrophobic membrane bonded to the inside of the outer shell for maximum waterproofing and breathability. We use industry leading standards for weatherproofing. This unique process allows water vapour (perspiration) to pass through the blanket while simultaneously repelling rain and external water.
We suggest periodically inspecting your blanket and making repairs where necessary. Several brands of water repellant spray are available to waterproof your repairs. To ensure effective breathability, do not over blanket or overheat your horse. Excessive perspiration may not breathe off.
Although the outer shell material is waterproof, no blanket can be made 100% waterproof, despite many manufacturer’s claims. While all major stitching seams are professionally taped on the inside for waterproofing, there are some areas of stitching that cannot be taped. These areas are mostly on the lower part of the blanket to help reduce this concern. Horses left outside in severe rain or weather conditions may also experience wetness inside their blankets from rain or snow blowing in from the front or rear openings. Horses prone to rolling or horseplay are also candidates for this problem.
CARING FOR YOUR BLANKET
WEAR AND TEAR EXPECTATIONS
Many different theories abound as to the appropriateness of which style of blanket to use and when. The best rule of thumb is to know your horse and to understand how they behave in their various environments. Some horses are extremely rough on their blankets while others can seem to get years out of their blankets.
NO BLANKET CAN BE MADE 100% HORSE PROOF
We recommend that you gauge your horse’s environment accordingly and buy the blanket that best suits those needs. Lighter weight sheets and blankets are best suited for indoor or attended use, while heavier denier blankets are more appropriate for outdoor or unattended use.
Proper care and inspection of your blankets, sheets and accessories is required on a regular basis. Given the nature and variability of equine activity and the various manufacturing materials used to produce equestrian products, we cannot guarantee against breakage or failure. Hardware, straps and materials may or may not break under stress conditions and horses should be monitored accordingly. All products must be carefully inspected for safety, defects and/or wear prior to first use and each time thereafter.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
For best results, hand wash and hang to dry. If washed in a machine, use warm or cold water and the gentlest washing cycle available. Avoid excessive washer or dryer heat. Always remove your leg straps before washing and ensure that any loose straps or surcingles on the blanket do not become caught in your washer or dryer. For waterproof and breathable blankets, please note that heat, dry cleaning, strong detergents, or bleach may reduce or damage your blanket’s waterproofing features.
WARRANTY AND GUARANTEE
Your blanket or sheet is fully guaranteed against manufacturer’s defects in workmanship. Always try your blanket or sheet on first with another sheet on underneath so that if it needs to be returned or exchanged it is clean.
