Product Buyer

About The Role:

First and foremost, you are an equestrian, and you have a passion for the sport. Our purchasing group is responsible for the development and procurement of equestrian and pet products from vendors around the world, including multiple private label brands as well as well-known international brands.

As a buyer you will manage and place purchase orders, analyze and research product additions and work and negotiate with vendors to create strong relationships.

Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities include:

  • Purchase Plans
    • Review and manage weekly purchase plans to ensure regular replenishment
    • Plan and maintain accurate lead times and target periods
    • Identify/manage any problems or concerns such as retail changes and backorders
  • Pricing and Margins
    • Ensure retail pricing is accurate and in line with the current market
    • Manage vendor price changes and margin to meet profitability targets
    • Cultivate relationship with suppliers, negotiating contracts, finding new sources and developing new practices to drive value in the supply chain

Experience & Education:

Product Allocation Analyst

About The Role:

Greenhawk is currently looking to fill the full-time position of Allocation Analyst. This is an exciting opportunity to hone and develop your skillset in business analysis while at the same time working in the equestrian industry.

The Allocation Analyst works to ensure each store carries the optimal mix of inventory to meet customer demand and maximize store profitability. To achieve this goal, you will work closely and effectively with the Purchasing and Sales/Marketing departments within Greenhawk, as well as with individual retail store owners and managers.

You should possess excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills and be comfortable handling multiple projects while maintaining a strong attention to detail.

The ideal candidate would possess a post-secondary education. Experience in other aspects of retail management, business analysis, purchasing and/or merchandise planning would be an asset but not a requirement. A strong candidate would possess good equestrian knowledge in a variety of areas and disciplines.

Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities include:

  • Determine appropriate stocking levels for individual store locations to ensure a cohesive product mix based on brand, quality, price, inventory cost, and seasonality
  • Develop and implement appropriate allocations for new product
  • Review and adjust stocking levels for products by style or category
  • Assist store owners and managers in making changes to their stocking levels to meet customer demand and to support Marketing promotions and special events
  • Use standard reporting tools to evaluate the performance of seasonal merchandise and re-allocate inventory proactively to maximize sell-through
